The 2026 SMX Playoffs kicked off at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, and Round 1 delivered one of the toughest conditions of the season. Heavy rain and severe weather transformed the track into a deep, muddy battle, forcing riders to adapt to constantly changing lines and challenging terrain.
Jorge Prado led the way for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team in the 450 Pro Class, putting together an impressive 3-4 moto score for 3rd overall. Prado stayed consistent through the brutal conditions to secure a podium finish and put himself in a strong position heading into the next round.
Aaron Plessinger also battled through the mud for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, improving from 10th in Moto 1 to 6th in Moto 2 for 7th overall. Eli Tomac fought through the challenging conditions with 15th and 13th-place finishes for 14th overall.
Justin Hill represented Team Tedder Racing, finishing 14th in Moto 1 and 17th in Moto 2 for 18th overall after a difficult day in the mud.
In the 250 Pro Class, Julien Beaumer endured a tough opening round, finishing 16th and 18th for 18th overall.
With two rounds remaining, the SMX Playoffs are just getting started. The field will head to Los Angeles for Playoff 2 as the championship battle continues.
